Queer Peer T-shirt circa 1999

"The Queer Peer t-shirts debuted at Williams in fall 1996. Cara Wick ('97) and I were among the organizers of the program and were roundly critizied by the College Council for making the shirts look like JA t-shirts. In fact they threated to make us pay back money they had given us for advertising purposes. Ultimately the council let us off the hook when we pointed out that more often than not posters/flyers were ripped down and destroyed and that the t-shirts served as human advertisement that could not so easily be destroyed. I think the post-modern 'self as advertising' resonanted with them for some reason."
